Project Goal: Create a 3D animated Rube Goldberg machine in Reallusion's iClone7 animation software using simulated physics and and keyframing.
This is a 3D animated short of a Rube Goldberg machine I created in iClone7 using both rigid body physics with the PhysX engine and keyframing some individual motion. I also edited together the audio track to help bring life to the short. For those who don't know, a Rube Goldberg machine is an overly-complicated machine (or sequence of events) made to complete a simple task. Mine here is a very complicated series of events just meant to turn the page in a book. To complete the full sequence of events for this machine, I had to run the physics bits at a time, then once I got a motion that I liked I would bake that action into the scene so the same action would run every time after. In this way, the full sequence was pieced together (rather than run once perfectly) to achieve that perfect look.
